Hey Secret Community,
Back in 2022/2023, the Secret Community funded new Gen 3 hardware for public clusters. At the time, this hardware was not yet supported on the network. However, with the recent Secret Network upgrade in late 2024, new-generation hardware is now fully supported, making it possible to utilize these resources for public clusters.
While maintaining and operating bare metal nodes individually is feasible, it comes with long-term costs. With the launch of the new SNF Foundation initiative, led by Lisa, there is now an initiative to support public clusters for both testnet and mainnet. This provides a structured and sustainable way to integrate and manage hardware for the network.
Given this, I am planning to hand over this hardware—originally purchased for close to $40K and still in near-new condition—to the SNF. Under their management and contracts, this hardware will be put to use for the benefit of the network.
