ETHRome 2024 Recap

ETHRome 2024 was a strong follow-up in its second year, drawing builders and coders to work on privacy and account abstraction. Teams put in long hours and delivered practical, and thought-provokingly innovative projects. Well done to all participants!

For us at Secret Network, it was an incredible experience connecting with the vibrant Italian Web3 community. Working closely with so many sharp minds this weekend was truly fantastic, and we can’t thank the Urbe.eth and ETHRome organizers enough for putting together such a great event.

This year’s edition saw a significant boost in Secret’s presence. With the return of several key collaborators and the expansion of our Builders Program, we attracted the highest number of participants using Secret contracts at an Ethereum hackathon to date. What set us apart this year was having our business development representative, APR, and technical support all on-site, enabling us to provide quick support to teams as necessary.

We had seven project submissions using Secret contracts. There were two hackathon tracks, privacy and account abstraction, and we’re proud to announce that Fhenix, our sister project, took first place, and Shield Space, leveraging SecretPath, took 2nd place in the Privacy Track.

One member of Cacio ‘N Care, another project awarded a Secret bounty expressed how great it was to discover “how beautiful and complex Rust can be”, and how instrumental on-site technical support and “words of encouragement and tips to hack for my very first time” from the SNF team were in solving “10 hours long streak of fixing errors”.

We love to see new creative uses of Secret technology. We’re looking forward to seeing how these projects evolve and how the broader Web3 community will continue to embrace privacy-preserving solutions in the months and years to come.
