Given the discussions around quantifying chain performance and hardware upgrades, we are creating a purpose built testnet for this called Velocity. This dedicated testnet will be used to find how the chain performs under different conditions leveraging a special build of Secret that allows deeper insights into performance.
Current Status:
- Build Completion: The special build of Secret is already completed.
- Bootstrap Node: The bootstrap node is up and running, so we can add regular validators.
Initial Plan Overview:
- Node Deployment and Registration: Setting up and registering multiple validators and api nodes.
- Contract Deployment: Deploying various smart contracts to Velocity.
- Load Testing: Create or use existing tooling to load test contracts across various different enclave sizes and hardware for comparison.
- Bottleneck Analysis: Find hotspots and bottlenecks around performance.
- Data Presentation: Organizing and presenting the collected data.
Delta Timeout Test
Delta Timeouts: Discover how the chain performs with different delta timeouts, and verify if it works as expected to make the block time elastic under load and consistent under normal load.
