2024 Mid-Year Delegation Update

As stated in our 2024 roadmap, we are performing a delegation update in the middle of the year.

First, I want to thank our validator community for continuous work and support, especially in the current market conditions.

In this update, we are also introducing a higher level of SCRT Labs delegation transparency (following community requests voiced at the previous delegation round), and a clearer policy.

Delegation Policy

We have come up with a delegation policy where Labs delegation is divided into Base and Additional delegation.

Base delegation is provided for one of the following three roles:

  • Validator - validators running only (or mostly) on Secret
  • Multi-Chain Validator - validators that professionally support several chains
  • Dapp Developers

Each role can receive Base delegation in the following ranges:

  • Validator - 250K - 1M
  • Dapp Developer - 250K - 1M
  • Multi-Chain Validator - 500K - 2M

In addition to the Base delegation, we define 4 areas of contribution for which delegation can be awarded.

  1. Public Goods (Dashboards, Archive Nodes, etc.) - up to 1,5M
  2. Running Relayers - up to 250K
  3. Running RPC nodes - from 250K up to 1.25M (the higher range is for highly redundant RPC nodes with SLA)
  4. Marketing - up to 250K

In addition, Labs can issue discretionary delegations to various projects according to internal considerations.

In further rounds of delegation, we may consider reducing the Base delegations and increasing the Contribution part of the delegation.

We welcome community feedback on the delegation policy both in terms of relative value of Base and Contribution delegation, types of Contributions and any other feedback.

Delegation Transparency

While exact delegation numbers are not publicly disclosed, we are sharing the list of validators that received delegations, and the categories in which they received them.

The data is available here

Actual redelegations will be performed in the coming couple of weeks.

Welcoming Feedback

I welcome constructive feedback on the policy, transparency and other issues related to Labs delegations, to be used in the next rounds of delegation.
